Thanks for the heads up Bean. We love Matthew Pearl. If you ever get a chance to see him give a reading, don't miss it!! He is hysterical in person. He came to Brattle Street in Cambridge when he was doing his last book tour and had the best time.
I haven't read any of his others, but I think they look good. I remember reading the summary of Poe Shadow last time I was at your house.
